I latte it hot: Where to find a perfect Red Velvet Latte in Tokyo
Have you spent a whole day taking in the sights of Tokyo, and now you’re looking to refuel with a great cup of coffee? Then look no further than STREAMER COFFEE COMPANY.
Streamer Coffee Company Facts
The first store opened in Shibuya in 2010, with the focus being high quality coffee and latte art using the “free pour” method.
They take “free pour” very seriously. Creating perfect latte art is described as “the pinnacle of all barista techniques”.
It’s also supposed to affect the taste; as good latte art means a good tasting latte.
So Hipster it Hurts
STREAMER COFFEE COMPANY have many cafes around Tokyo, and also a line of smaller STREAMER ESPRESSO stands, which are normally found within other stores. The branch I visited was their STREAMER ESPRESSO stand within PC Depot, in Roppongi (I wasn’t looking for a PC, I just saw a sign for Red Velvet Latte and was instantly sold).
Although the branch I visited was inside another store, it maintained an artisanal vibe, which is rather impressive. I felt like I was in Shoreditch, London; felt like home.
Red Velvet your way to my heart
The latte I drank was a “Red Velvet Latte”, which I was instantly sold on. They regularly have limited edition coffee’s so definitely keep an eye out for their next limited edition coffee. The Red Velvet Latte was apparently made with hints of beetroot and the mug was rimmed with dried strawberries.
Not only is the latte art almost perfect, but the taste was incredible. The milk was so silky and the coffee was so smooth it felt like I wasn’t drinking a cup of coffee at all. My coffee-kind of heaven.
Now, as you can most likely tell I’m a fan of this coffee, but it doesn’t come cheap. This latte was around 700 yen ($6), so it’s not the cheapest coffee out there. But it’s definitely worth it.
If you’re a fan of good coffee then I definitely recommend visiting one of the STREAMER COFFEE COMPANY’s branches soon!
So that’s all for now folks,
